Description: From the awesome to the desolate, traveling through southern Utah offers many different scenes along the way
The area in central Utah has mostly flat lands with ranges of mountains and hills.
As I look back on this leg of our trip I realized that I did not stop for any photos along the way! That is strange for me. I guess I was just concerned about not getting into Wellington as late as we got into Monument Valley yesterday.
Actually, though, there is so much to see along the route that to even get a sample of the country would take many stops. Starting in the Monument Valley itself we traveled through Blanding, Moab, and Green River with a stop for lunch in Monticello. There were some other small towns along the way such as Mexican Hat and Bluff, and they all would have warranted a stop. Oh well, we will do again some time when we are not in a hurry!
Our space at Wellington UT. Spartan, but certainly adequate
Bluff and Blanding are part of the Navajo Reservation, Bluff being a very small town and Blanding somewhat larger. Monticello is the San Juan County seat, so is larger still. Moab is a tourist town being where Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park are located and being situated along the Colorado River. Green River is along the Green River, a major tributary of the Colorado, and which rises in Wyoming and runs through Green River WY, where we used to live.
Wellington is in Carbon County and Price to the north is the County seat. Coal mining has been the main industry north of Wellington, while ranching still plays a large role in the Wellington area.
We are staying at an RV park associated with a National 9 Inn here in Wellington. We are in the area to attend the wedding of our granddaughter in East Carbon UT, but this is the closest RV park. The park is quite plain and the spaces somewhat small by today's standards, but it certainly is adequate. All the services except cable TV, so I set up our satellite dish to handle that.
