Description: The reason we came to Utah was to attend the wedding of Stacie and Jeremiah. Little did I know I would do more than that!

Stacie Ogden, 21, is our oldest granddaughter and she is now Stacie Christensen. She and Jeremiah Christensen were married and the wedding was celebrated in East Carbon UT where Jeremiah's family lives. The celebration took place in a nice park in East Carbon on a beautiful day with lots of sunshine and some breezes. Elaine and I traveled up from Phoenix to attend the wedding as did Stacie's dad, Shane. Stacie and Jeremiah live in Rock Springs WY, and Jeremiah's family members from Wyoming were also at the wedding.

It does our hearts good to see those two young folks getting married. Jeremiah seems totally taken with Stacie and though we don't see them often whenever we have they seem to be happy with each other. We are delighted that Jeremiah comes from a close, caring family, because we expect that those values will go far to make a good life for our granddaughter.

Stacie has two children from a previous relationship - Carlos is three and Alyssia is one. From what we see and hear Jeremiah has taken those kids to his heart and wants to be a good dad to them. And you know how important that is to worrying grandparents!

What was also good for us was to see Shane with his grandchildren. He does not get to see them often, but he seemed quite at ease and comfortable with them. To tell you the truth, it is hard to realize that Shane has grandchildren!

Elaine also got to spend quality time with Alyssia and held her for a long time and fed her. Carlos is older and as a lively kid did not stay in one place for long, so he did not get held much. Alyssa and I have a special relationship since she was born on my birthday last year.

An added bonus for me personally is that I got to "officiate" at the ceremony today! No, I am not a minister or justice of the peace. Stacie and Jeremiah came to see us on Friday and said they had not been able to line up a minister to perform the ceremony on Saturday so they got married by a judge in Green River WY on Friday and asked me to stand up with them to as they said their vows on Saturday. They had the ceremony all written out and we followed their script as they celebrated getting married with family and friends. It was a great honor for me and meant a lot to me. In fact, I sort of choked up a little at a couple of points in the ceremony as I was describing the marriage meaning as contained in the script. It was a very special time for me.
